Description of the institute

The French research institute „Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique“ (LMD) was founded 1968 and has been embedded in three universities since 1998: the École Polytechnique in Palaiseau, the École Normale Supérieure and the Université Pierre et Marie Curie, both in Paris. The LMD is associated with the Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES). It is also a member of the Institut Pierre Simon Laplace (IPSL), an association of nine environmental labs in the Paris region. The LMD researches on climate, meteorology, pollution and planetary atmospheres by using theoretical and experimental approaches as well as numerical modelling.
