Description:
The METHANE-To-Go project adresses methane and related trace gases, which are relevant for research on global warming. Airborne in-situ measurements (0-5 km altitude) were carried out during the MTG-Europe field experiment, focusing on anthropogenic emissions from oil and gas operations, cities and landfills. There is also a component for the validation of Sentinel 5P satellite measurements of SO2, particularly near coal-fired power plants. Offshore gas platforms in the Adriatic Sea, power plants on the Balkans and the city of Naples were the main target areas. The DLR Falcon-20 operated from Oberpfaffenhofen under regulations related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
